Chicago is best known for the ever famous Chicago Style deep dish pizza. You ever think deep dish was a mistake? some cook was just high as f*ck like, "oh shit, the sauce!" and just threw it on top after and thought no one would notice. That sounds about as Chicago as it gets. I am by no means a pizza connoisseur, in fact majority of the pizza I consume is while intoxicated or when newly in a relationship and still pretending I'm that care free girl who "eats whatever I want". Don't get me wrong, pizza is one of my favorite food groups. (even more so when I had a fast metabolism and was in college with my parent's credit card still attached to my grubhub account.) But regardless, I figured I'd give my unrequested personal take on the best pizza in Chicago for 2019. While I've included the cliches like "best deep dish" and "best thin crust", given my unsophisticated palate, I figured I'd also include some less common category choices, such as "Best pizza to get hungover on a Sunday", or maybe "Most Instagrammable pizza posted by girls you know aren't eating it" You know, typical achievements that only the combination of dough, tomato sauce and cheese can master. Thankfully, I have some amazing foodie friends in this wonderful city that have beautifully captured these carb filled moments. Best Deep Dish Pizza in Chicago
Giordano's, Lou Malnati's, Art of Pizza & Gino's East
Like every tourist and Google search results, it's inevitable the well known winners of the best deep dish pizza in the city of Chicago. (don't blame me, blame Google.) Giordano's and Lou Malnati's easily take the lead here, and it's obvious to see why, they're AMAZING! (I can't tell you how frequently I crave Lou's butter crust followed by a carb induced coma.If you haven't had Lou Malnati's or Giordano's do you even live in Chicago?)
But we do have some other contenders that certainly deserve recognition for their effort (just like a girl after a blowjob even if she uses her teeth) . After all, the pizza itself takes 45 minutes at MINIMUM to make, and so many locals would argue that these are the best double d's (aka Deep Dish) In Chi; Art of Pizza and Gino's East

Most Instagrammable Pizza Posted by Girls You Know Aren't Eating It
Parlor Pizza, Siena Tavern, Art of Pizza, Homeslice
We all know them. Girls who religiously post pictures of high calorie foods on their instagram stories with no actual intention of eating them. We see you. I'd say the most instagram worthy pics by these culprits are; Parlor Pizza (when on the patio with an ice cream taco as well), Siena Tavern (sure to include their Gucci bag in the photo) Art of Pizza (late night at home with an obnoxious "being a fatty" caption) and Homeslice (under the I LOVE PIZZA sign after recently being dumped by an ex and pretending to be happy and moved on) In all honestly, what female is eating pizza before a night out? I'm on a self proclaimed intermittent fasting diet if I plan on wearing a crop top on a Saturday, a more realistic picture of me eating that pizza is blackout on my couch at 1:54 am snapchat messaging my college ex.

Best Pizza Place to Take a Bad Date or Wife you Can't Stand.
Gino's East
This was an easy win because Gino's is connected to The Comedy Bar! So you can enjoy your evening with some hysterical comedy and great pizza, even if your date's personality blends in with the wall. If he continues to tell you about his strong political views, record collection or his deep love for Mezcal, you can politely tell him that you can't hear him and you guys can talk after the show (leave out that this window of time is the 3-4 minutes while your Uber is connecting you with local drivers to go home) They have both thin crust and deep dish so you really can't go wrong here. Enjoy! Also, great spot to take your wife you can't stand. Maybe after an hour of comedy she will stop nagging you about the lawn or your receding hairline for at least the drive home.
Best Hangover Pizza
Costco
No questions asked on this one. We may not be posting it regularly on instagram, but like the side chick we can't leave, we keep coming back for more. Honestly, the Costco membership fee is solely worth it for the pizza and fountain pop. Getting degraded by the Costco bouncer so you can buy bulk orders of deli meat, trampolines and alcohol at cost is just another perk to the membership, but the pizza is the real deal.
Best Thin Crust Pizza
Piece Pizza, Bongiornos
If you haven't been to Piece Pizza yet, I highly recommend. Aside from the largest, floppiest, best tasting pizza (I realize those adjective choices give off a sluttier vibe.) they also have a ton of craft beer they make and they've won a shit ton of awards for it. While this pizza isn't the best the next day, thankfully it's so good you most likely won't have any left overs. Bongiorno's is also another top candidate tucked away in River North with an adorable little patio for all the spoiled DePaul kids to pretend they like "hole in the wall" spots.

There are few things better than patio season in Chicago when it's 85 and sunny and you're about 3 drinks deep and eagerly decide on a pizza for the group. After all, you've been eating healthy all week, you deserve it. (the exact thought process of why I've never been successful in any diet I've ever tried). As a basic white girl in Chicago, nothing improves your pizza experience quite like a great patio, an instagram worthy drink and great crowd. Homeslice, Paradise Park, and Parlor Pizza have nailed it when it comes to all of these categories.
